Solar Screens

Q: How much do Solar Screens Cost?

A: Solar Screens start around $950 based on installation for 10 windows.  

My price per square foot is $7.50.

Q: What’s the difference between Solar Screens and Solar film?

A: While both have the same attributes in terms of percentages of Heat, Glare & UV reduction, Solar Screens are installed on the outside of the window; film usually goes on the inside of the windows. Solar Screens prevent heat from entering the building as well as keeping frames cooler. This is especially helpful if covering aluminum framed windows, such as commercial establishments.

With film the sunlight enters and then is refracted back through the glass and outside, usually burning grass and plants. Installing film onto glass gives it “mirror-like” qualities, cracks glass and heats up dual-pane windows causing seal failure or a “fogged-up” look internally between window panes thus resulting in replacement.

Another attribute is screens don't burn the grass & kill plants from the reflection of the sun rays.

• Solar Screens can be removed for Winter, film cannot.
• Solar Screens come in a variety of colors, film does not.

Q: Are Solar Screens private?

A:  Yes and no. Solar Screens provide total daytime privacy, from sun up to sundown. At night, however, the greater degree of light prevails (similar to thin curtains and the Lifestyle Garage Screen). If you turn on the lights inside at night, then anyone outside can see into garage/building fairly easily.

Q: How do I store Solar Screens after the season?

A:  Solar Screens are almost effortless to remove, then store in garage or attic until the next season.

Q: Do you offer a rebate from Georgia Power/Palmetto Co-op, for the Solar Screens for the reduced energy consumption?

A: No, not at this time.  But we are actively lobbying Georgia Power/Palmetto Electric for a retroactive rebate for customers who purchase Solar Screens from us for the reduction of the overall consumption of energy (based in the form of a square foot rebate credit to be applied to your monthly bill).

Window Screen Replacement & Repair

Q: What materials are your products made from?

A:  All of our products are U.S. made and locally fabricated and installed.

• The frames are made out of extruded aluminum from the U.S. Aluminum Company with mitered corners reinforced with aluminum internal corners.
• The PVC coated fiberglass screen fabric is gently stretched over frames and kept in place with a PVC hollow core spline.

Q: What if my window is a custom shape or size?

A: We will happily put together a free quote for you. Typically, screens that are “Half Moon” shape or over 10 square feet in dimension will require custom screens.  As a general rule, “Half Moons” are usually double price of the opening they are above, which is consistent with industry standards.

Q: Will you need to enter my home?

A: It depends on what your home needs.

• Window screens are usually installed from inside the home, in tracks or window lips, so they are secure.
• Solar Screens and Lifestyle Screens are installed outside the home and provide an additional level of privacy & security.

You may also choose to install screens yourself. In that case, leave the screens stacked up against the house or garage for us to pick up.  Bill will deliver the new or repaired screens to the same location at a predetermined time.

Installation is always included.

Q: Do you make Patio Door screens, and if so how much are they?

A: Patio Door Screens start at $495 for a basic 3’0 X 6’8″ Mill-colored aluminum and basic Fiberglass screen.  Options like Pet Screen, aluminum door guards and finishes are an additional cost.  We offer the Milano Screen Door in a standard 3'0 X 6'8 for $495.00.  These beautiful screen doors retract into a canister and are out of view when not in use.  The frames come in different colors and your choice of black or white Super Screen is included.  Those wanting a swing door priced at $495.00

Q: Why should I buy new screens for the home?

A: Basically, screens are a ten-year product. Many homes built 8-10 years ago or longer usually have mass-produced windows with ill-fitting screens with cheap plastic corners that have deteriorated due to sun exposure, and tears in the brittle screen. New screens also wonderful to look out!

And NO pesky insects!

Q: How much is it for basic screens in my home, ballpark?

A: Typically, around $550 for new, $350 for re-screen (based on 10 standard-sized & shaped windows).

As always the estimate is FREE.

Q: Do you repair screens and how much is it?

A: Yes, $55 site-to-site for New screens or $5.50 sq. ft.   For re-screens $3.50 sq. ft.  I will come by and pick them up, take them back to the shop and work on them, then drop them off at your home.  You install.  No custom shapes or sizes, limited distance radius.  Please call for more information.  

Q: How much do the Lifestyle Garage Screens cost?

A: Lifestyle Garage Screens are $1,995 installation included for a standard sized 16' X 7' garage opening.  For DIY I can drop ship one to your door for $1,500.00  8 foot high or 18 feet wide are $2,195.00     Lifestyle with color other than Black or White are available.  Colors include Brown, Sandstone, Desert Sand, Gray, Blue or Green and several other shades.

Q: How much are the Fenetex screens?

A: Fenetex screens start at $3995 for a 7 foot high opening and go up from there.  And all come with Solar control 80 screen in your choice of color.

Q: Are the Lifestyle Garage Screens private?

A: Yes and no. Lifestyle Garage Screens provide total daytime privacy. At night, the greater degree of light prevails. Meaning that if it’s completely dark outside and you turn a light on inside the garage, then it’s quite easy to see right in.

Q: I have an ARB/HOA, can I get one passed through them?

A: Of course, with no problem. We have a presentation we can send to you or we can present one on your behalf to the ARB/HOA board in your area. Lifestyle Garage Screens have no outside parts, are not permanent fixtures on the outside of the garage exterior nor when viewed from the street when upright. Typically, ARB/HOA’s have no problem green-lighting the installation of Lifestyle Garage Screens. That fact, along with a variety of pleasing available color options for both frame and screen, means an aesthetically pleasing look. A win/win for everyone.
